Read 2 Corinthians 3:7-18 The year is 2020 and the world has been shaken by a pandemic called Covid-19. People have been encouraged and in some cases required to wear a face-covering attempting to minimize the risk of spreading the virus. In our passage, we learn that Moses had put on a 'mask' as well but for a different reason. He wasn't trying to avoid or spread a disease. In verse 13, we see that Moses, had put a veil over his face in order that the Israelites would not gaze at a glory that was coming to an end.
This concept has always been intriguing to me. By wearing the veil, the people were not able to see that the old glory was fading. And anytime someone puts their trust in the 'old' way they are ultimately confronted with the reality that there is no true power and no real freedom there. And for us, when we choose the 'old way', putting our trust in religious patterns, man-made regulations, or self-centered strivings, we find ourselves trapped in bondage rather than living life to the full.
In this case, it is time to 'take the mask off' and allow God's Spirit to set you free. When you focus on His glory, His power, and His work than you will find yourself on a journey of transformation moving from one degree of glory to another. Each day slowly but surely becoming like Christ! It is God's will for you to be free. He has made a way for you to not to stay in shame but to step into glory.
