Walk This Way...

Read Galatians 5:16-26 When I was a kid, I remember a song by Aerosmith / Run D.M.C. called "Walk This Way!" It was a catchy tune talking about following the example of someone in order to - well - catch the girl you have been wanting. This song promoted following a bad example to get to a certain fleshly goal. In our passage today, the Apostle Paul says, "walk by the Spirit and you won't gratify the desires of the flesh."

In essence, Paul is singing the same tune with a different aim. "Walk this way" and you will inherit the Kingdom of God. Paul continues by talking about what the Kingdom strut looks like. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. When we choose to 'walk this way' we find ourselves walking the same way as Christ.

We choose to love rather than hate. We choose joy rather than depression. We choose kindness rather than hurtfulness. We choose to be good instead of bad. We choose loyalty to God rather than hypocrisy. And finally, we choose 'self-control' over self-serving.

As a result, the Kingdom of God is released to us. We gain heaven's power in our life. His Kingdom comes into our earthly reality. We step to the beat of freedom rather than bondage. We are led by the Spirit and not the flesh! Whose walk will you follow today? Listen for the voice of the Spirit and keep in step with Him.

Choose today to 'walk His way!"

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves,

you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin,

which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?

Romans 6:16
