Read Genesis 12:1-3
I will never forget a message that my mentor preached years ago when I was in college. His message was based from our passage today. You are blessed to be a blessing. It is important to recognize God's blessing on your life. Too easily, we focus on the negative things that are happening around us. We get consumed with news reports and bad circumstances. Perhaps, we obsess over a past experience that has gripped our hearts and minds. As a result, we live life with our head down. In this state, we literally walk around missing opportunities that are right in front of us.
In Ephesians 1:3, we learn from the Apostle Paul that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places. Note, Paul's words are written in past-tense. You are already blessed. You are already a recipient of these blessings. Secondly, in order to truly activate them in your life you must understand that those blessings are meant to serve others. Focusing outward will get you moving forward.

Oftentimes in our struggles, we put all our attention on us, our needs, our wounds, our problems that we miss what is necessary to release us into our purpose. Today, open your eyes to the blessings in your life and recognize how you can use them to serve someone one else. Serving is winning! Make a commitment today not to focus on your own needs but ask yourself the question, "What good can I do for someone else today?"
