Read Galatians 6:1-5. All of us mess up sometimes. We make bad decisions. We choose wrong things. Let’s just get real...we simply flat out sin. Sin means to “miss the mark”. It’s when we find ourselves out of bounds, misaligned from where we are supposed to be. The question is not, “will I sin?” The question is, “What happens next?” As we have been studying The Fall in Genesis, we have seen God’s perfect masterpiece spiral out of control. The man and woman who were created in His image crosses the line and gets vandalized by sin. Sin opened the door for fear and fear is fueled by shame. Hiding in darkness behind some tree in the Garden, the blame game begins.
God asks these two newly guilty children of His, “Who told you you were naked? Did you eat the fruit that I told you to avoid?” And we know what happened next. The finger pointing began. The man blamed the woman and the woman blamed the serpent and on and on it goes today as we blame others for the brokenness in our lives. Oftentimes we find ourselves empty and wounded because of our choices. And yet, somehow we embrace a victim mindset excusing ourselves of any responsibility for our restoration.
Yes, there are situations of which - to no fault of our own - we are abused or mistreated or sinned against. I am not discrediting that reality. However, I want you to know the power that you have within NOT to allow the enemy to use those hurts to trap you. Past wounds can cause you to miss God opportunities as they walk by your Garden of life. Get hiding and let God restore you.
Paul is blunt with the truth as he says, “Each one must bear his own burden.” In other words, it’s time for you to rise up and take back the life that was intended for you. No one and no power of hell has the right or authority to rule over you. You were created to be victorious.
Did you sin. Repent and rise again.
Did you get sinned against? Forgive them, just as God has forgiven you.
Repentance and Forgiveness are both choices. Choose freedom today.
It’s time to end the blame game and walk in victory! Look in the mirror and point at yourself and say, “You are not a victim. It’s in your DNA to have victory!”
